Assorted nails were pressed into wet terra cotta clay covers before firing. The cover was enhanced with green watercolor on the clay and then waxed to a soft sheen. The pages are crumpled tracing paper that was dipped in a watercolor wash. The wet pages were dried under weight. After the book was sewn, photocopies of nails were attached to the pages.
